Pastor – Rev. Christy Bandy
I am the youngest of three children. We grew up in Stockbridge, Georgia.
Growing up I enjoyed music through singing and playing the clarinet in the band. I enjoyed sports and actively played softball and tennis. After the family moved to Kissimmee, Florida in 1979, I chose to pursue my undergraduate degree in Georgia. I attended Gordon College in Barnesville, Georgia for a year. The next year I attended the University of Georgia. Due to unique circumstances, I finished my undergraduate degree at Georgia State University with a BA in Philosophy and a minor in Psychology in May of 1989. I attained a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1992. I completed the course work for a Doctor of Ministry degree at Erskine University from 2001.
Due to a need for Pastors and other factors, I moved to South Georgia in August of 1992. I was ordained a Deacon in 1993 and an Elder in Full Connection in 1995. I have served a variety of charges and churches. One of my appointive years was spent as Wesley Foundation Director of the Savannah Colleges and University from 2002-2003.
I have served on numerous District and Conference committees. I also served on the Georgia Pastors School Board of Managers. I have attended the School of Christian Mission / Mission u events for 30 years only missing 2 or 3 in those 30 years. In 2008, I started getting more involved in the School of Christian Mission as a volunteer helping in the background. I was Assistant Dean in 2012 and 2013. In 2014 and 2015, I served as Dean of Mission u.
My hobbies include watching sports. I especially enjoy watching a Saturday afternoon/evening University of Georgia football game. I also enjoy fishing and reading.
